Dearest Dad and Nola, and Mike, John, Dallis, Linda, Jack, Connie and nephews, nieces and cousins who may see this letter...
It's my turn to say sorry for the long gap in the news from us. My only excuse is that the last two months have been quite an upheaval - not to say almost cataclysmic - up to early April at least. Today's a holiday, and time to catch up on contact with you. And as you'll gaher, I'd be grateful Dad and Nola, if you'd pass this round the family.
It's a bad news, good news package- the good happily overtaking and wiping out the bad. The enclosed cutting with my photo is from London's glossy meadia weekly, Campaign, an early April issue, and it tells the story accurately and fully as you would want, of the collapse of 8 Days, and the shabby behaviour of the boss, Shuabi.
He never did cough up with even our March salaries, though we stand to recieve about two thirds of March salary in a few weeks time, when the liquidator pays out preferential creditors...It was three years of valuable experience and good pay for me. I don't regret a moment.
In fact, even before th stormclouds started gathering in February, I was thinking of a change, if only because Eve has been earning better with the UN in Somalia., and if she was to be asked to stay on for a long contract, her contribution to the family, etc, would be markedly better than mine.
